pics of the afghans~
Here is my round ripple all finished, this one is the free pattern by Aggie May, I like this pattern alot but had a lot of trouble keeping the gauge correct so it wouldn't poof up in the middle. It poofs, just a tiny bit, lol! I like it though. This one and several other afghans I've made over the past year are going to go to charity. I haven't decided where yet, need to do some checking into that to see what is available locally. My niece works in a nursing home, maybe I will see if I can bring them up there for the residents. I'm sure they will be appreciated.Sunday, July 19, 2009

I made a doily! lol
Here is my first blocking board I made this afternoon! Not bad for a first attempt at making my own. I had to use a small scrap of plywood that I had on hand that didn't need to be cut down to size so it's a little thin. I used my husbands stapler, I really need to invest in my own stapler I found out. His is I guess what you'd call industrial size! The staples went all the way through all the layers and still had the ends of the staples sticking out. I just pounded them flat with a hammer and all is well, lol. Not showing you the back as it is kind of messy, besides I'm not using the back so who needs to see it huh?! lol The doily is called Daisy in the sun and is from the July 2009 issue of Crochet! that I got in the mail this morning. It was supereasy to make and really fun too. I'll take a better picture of it once it's dry and off the board. As for my latest xstitch finish, Yesteryear, I've decided to turn it into a bellpull. I need to find just the right fabric for it, and order some hardware too. I found some at 123 stitch that I like and it is reasonably priced as well so hopefully I can get that one finish-finished soon! lol, technical term that, finish-finished! ;)

Shocking Pink round ripple afghan finish
Here is my latest round ripple afghan finish-pink huh!! It's made with Red Heart worsted in black, candy print, and shocking pink. Appropriate name for this one-Shocking Pink! My daughter loves it, she doesn't know it but she will be getting it for Christmas. She thinks it's for one of her cousins, which it was when I started it, but since she's been begging me to give it to her, well I can't say no but it will be a surprise on Christmas~ ;0)Thursday, February 19, 2009
a crochet finish

Here is an afghan I finished up recently, it's called Rainbow Round and it is from the Leisure Arts book called Artsy afghans. I did it in I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby which is super-soft and easy to work with. It turned out really well, if small. More a lapghan than a full-size afghan. The pattern was fairly easy to do, but it was easy to get lost counting in the rows. Now I'm working on one called Granny's Ripple, also in the same brand yarn~hugs

My Big Toe/Quaker Seasons wip
This is my newest start, Quaker Seasons by My Big Toe. I'm stitching this one 1x1 on 22 count hardanger with Vikki Clayton silks. I'm using the premiums from d-bags that I've gotten with several orders over the summer so the colors aren't going to match exactly with what the pattern calls for. I'm still working on Burden as well, I've gotten 8 of 25 pages complete on him.Completely unrelated to stitching-today is November 4th! I voted, did you?! hugs Christine

another Inga's crochet bag/h-bag

I've finished another h-bag, this one is done in cotton worsted yarn & I lined it with plain white fabric. I was going to put a zipper in it, but it's been a long while since I've done any major sewing so I decided to stick with the basics on this one. I had to sew the lining in by hand after I got it all ready to put in as my sewing machine wouldn't stitch throught the thickness of it all together. This is going in the mail this week to my mom, her birthday is at the end of the month~

my h-bag
Here is a crochet bag I finished up today. It's from a free pattern I found on Ravelry called Inga's crocheted bag or hakelbuten(sp?) I made mine with red heart worsted yarn, in light sage and blue. I really like it and am using it as a project bag. It's holding yarn for my next project, 6-pointed star afghan. It's an Annie's Attic pattern that is so pretty. I'm doing mine in pinks and browns, I'll try to post a pic when I get further along with it~
As for my x-stitching, I'm still working on artecy's wolf 2. I've only got 3 pages left to do and he will be finished! I find that I am able to stick with just that one wip since I've started crocheting again, it seems to keep the startitis in check, lol!

Today I went to hobby lobby-or "mecca" as my dh jokingly put it! lol I got some floss(of course)and got some yarn for my next crochet project. Did you know that hobby lobby has their own brand of yarn now? I did not, and got some, and I love it! It's really soft and they have lots of pretty colors too. I haven't stitched with it yet, I'm making myself behave and finish the afghan that I'm working on first as it's a Christmas gift for my grandmother. Hopefully I can keep from falling into the trap of having to many crochet wip's like I do the xstitch ones~

Here is an afghan I finished this weekend for the munchkin, it's a mile-a-minute pattern. I used Red Heart worsted weight yarn in ecru and sunshine print, hugs, Christine

Well, it's been awhile since I updated here, not much going on lately. With the weather being so hot you would think that I'd be getting alot of stitching done, but not really. lol, I stitched some small patterns that will be Christmas ornaments. And I finished an afghan, all I have to do is tie up the ends and then I will take a pic for you. It's been a really long time since I finished any crochet, I've really missed crocheting and am picking it back up again. I used to buy yarn like I do threads for xstitch, meaning I would buy it just because I wanted it & not really having a project in mind for it!
I did get a new place ready for my garden for next year. I'm moving the veggie garden and am letting the raised beds in the front yard just be for flowers next year. There is too much grass to dig out and I don't have the energy to mess with it anymore. I never get ahead of it lol! Now, to get my hubby to keep his promise of a fence for the new one, he never did fence the old one :(0 ~
School starts next Thursday, my munchkin will be starting the 2nd grade~hubby, naturally, is complaining about all the school supplies. They do ask for alot, but I'm ok with sending clorox wipes and tissues-kids share germs like candy lol! hugs, Christine
