got dirty in the garden today

lol, today I got busy in my garden. Haven't been able to do alot lately since it's been raining so much. This has to be the wettest summer we've had here in Oklahoma in a long time. I staked my heirloom tomato plants, they were getting real leggy. I used some redbud limbs that got cut down so the electric people could reach our pole awhile back. They made great stakes, of course since I didn't stake them when I planted them in the spring everything is all crooked, but I don't mind really. I also removed 3 tomato plants so I could make a row between them. They were over-crowded and the tomato worms were munching away. I couldn't get to them easily so decided I needed to make space. I still have 6 huge plants left, lol My okra is finally blooming, yay! Can't wait until they are ready to pick, yummy~

It's supposed to be spring now, right?

It's snowing here today. After raining all day yesterday, it is a mess! I'm thankful however, that the weatherman was wrong (at least here in central OK) This junk was supposed to start last night and it only just now started at about 1:00 this afternoon. I don't think any of it will actually stick around, it's been too warm lately and the ground isn't frozen anymore. We did need the rain though, it's been a very dry for a while now. I'm really thankful that I haven't done any gardening except for some elephant ears that I planted last week, they should be fine. Got watered in real good huh!! lol

Rose Bunny

Here is an Artecy.com pattern called Rose Bunny. I'm stitching this one for the munchkin for Easter. Originally I thought I'd make a pillow out of it but now I'm thinking of making a tote bag instead. I think it would be really cute with some Easter fabric, she could use it to hunt for eggs with in the Easter hunt, or stuff it with candy etc. I'm stitching it on a light mint green 18 count aida fabric, it's really shiny and kind of stiff. I think it's damask? Whatever that is-some fabric expert I am huh!
Typical Oklahoma weather, it was sleeting on Saturday morning, by the afternoon it was in the upper 60's and sunny, got alot of yard work done~I want to start my garden so bad I can't stand it but am waiting for that frost date to pass. April something or other, lol

first sign of spring!

Here is the first daffodil of spring!! My daughter was playing outside today and found it, isn't it gorgeous?! I've noticed for the past few days that the birds are singing again, a maple tree in our front yard is blooming as well and was full of bees yesterday! Yayy, spring is a-coming!
and in honor of spring, I've decided to work on this ufo-it's called Gathering and it's by Marjolein Bastin. It's been a ufo for awhile now, I don't know why, guess I just got bored with it. Hopefully I can make a lot of progress on it this go around~;)

Well, it's been awhile since I updated here, not much going on lately. With the weather being so hot you would think that I'd be getting alot of stitching done, but not really. lol, I stitched some small patterns that will be Christmas ornaments. And I finished an afghan, all I have to do is tie up the ends and then I will take a pic for you. It's been a really long time since I finished any crochet, I've really missed crocheting and am picking it back up again. I used to buy yarn like I do threads for xstitch, meaning I would buy it just because I wanted it & not really having a project in mind for it!

I did get a new place ready for my garden for next year. I'm moving the veggie garden and am letting the raised beds in the front yard just be for flowers next year. There is too much grass to dig out and I don't have the energy to mess with it anymore. I never get ahead of it lol! Now, to get my hubby to keep his promise of a fence for the new one, he never did fence the old one :(0 ~

School starts next Thursday, my munchkin will be starting the 2nd grade~hubby, naturally, is complaining about all the school supplies. They do ask for alot, but I'm ok with sending clorox wipes and tissues-kids share germs like candy lol! hugs, Christine
