it's definitely August!

Aah, the dog days of summer are here, or at least they were lol. It was over 100 degrees every day for the past few weeks but finally has cooled down. It's a only 80 today so I got outside and tried to do some mowing. Note I said tried. Got stung by a red wasp and conceded the yard to them for now. It's time for some chemical warfare I think lol

I was faithfully stitching on my horses until I made a major boo-boo, counted wrong and ended up with a major frog session. Then one of my kittens slept on it and had to wash it. Rolls eyes, kittens learn that stuff early and she's definitely living up to her name-Princess! I brought out my oldest ufo to work on, Burden by HAED. I've almost finished another page on him so will have a pic to show soon! Maybe, just maybe I can get him finished this year, I've had him in the works since November 2006~

just another Monday

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week! This is the last full week of summer vacation, the munchkin and husband go back to school the 12th. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time. It will be nice to have some time to myself but it's going to be soo quiet with them both gone all day, lol. Guess I will get lots of stitching done!
Speaking of stitching, I'm still faithfully working on horses 3. I'm about halfway done with the 3rd page, it should go pretty quickly, then just a half page to do and that will be the halfway mark on it. Artecy came out with their latest new patterns last Friday so my wishlist has grown much bigger! sigh, can't stitch them all but I plan on giving it my best shot!! ;0)

got dirty in the garden today

lol, today I got busy in my garden. Haven't been able to do alot lately since it's been raining so much. This has to be the wettest summer we've had here in Oklahoma in a long time. I staked my heirloom tomato plants, they were getting real leggy. I used some redbud limbs that got cut down so the electric people could reach our pole awhile back. They made great stakes, of course since I didn't stake them when I planted them in the spring everything is all crooked, but I don't mind really. I also removed 3 tomato plants so I could make a row between them. They were over-crowded and the tomato worms were munching away. I couldn't get to them easily so decided I needed to make space. I still have 6 huge plants left, lol My okra is finally blooming, yay! Can't wait until they are ready to pick, yummy~

cute little poem I found(political)

Here is a cute little poem I found on the web somewhere, I usually don't like to post stuff like this but I just couldn't resist, it's so spot-on!

I do not like this Uncle Sam,
I do not like his health care scam.
I do not like these dirty crooks,
or how they lie and cook the books.
I do not like when Congress steals,
I do not like their secret deals.
I do not like this speaker, Nan,
I do not like this "Yes, we can".
I do not like this spending spree,
I'm smart; I know that nothing's free.
I do not like your smug replies,
when I complain about your lies.
i do not like this kind of hope,
I do not like it - nope, nope, nope.

and that's that. lol

horsey update!

Here's the latest on Artecy's horses 3, starting to see some horse there. I'm enjoying stitching this one. It's going slowly since I'm stitching it 1x1, but I think the details look really good that small. I started a small project to work on when the tiny stitches get to be too much. It's a Lizzie Kate Snippet called Prayer Connection. It's really cute and I'm stitching this one 2x2 on 28 count so easy stitching on this one! :0)

We survived the rain!

lol, sort of, our roof leaked, well, everywhere. The sound of dripping water is not soothing to me, it's downright irritating and causes me great stress. They got up to 11 inches in Edmond, I'm not sure how much we got as the gauge part of my rain gauge is missing, but I'm sure we got almost as much. Our driveway is washed out and hubby has to park at the top next to the gate, no way is his car making it all the way down. I know that there are people who lost everything in the flooding and I should be grateful that all we need is a new roof, but it's hard sometimes. Especially when my hubby is not that motivated to fix anything around the house. What's a girl to do? Well pray of course~that always works!

june 2010

I lost several of my cross stitch projects that got rained on. I thought they were safe where I had put them up, but they got soaked and stained from the dresser they were stored in. Want to guess what a 30-40 year old dresser that has lived in a smokers house(not mine)smells like when it gets wet? Nasty. At least my yarn is safe and sound, silver lining~lol. Oh well, life has it's ups and downs, I think I need to bury myself in some cross stitch for the next few days, that should improve my pity-party mood~

horses 3 update

Here is an update on horses 3~

artecy,cross stitch

~Clicky pic~

I've not got as much done as I would like to,but with spring here I've been spending more time outside working in the yard/garden, and less time stitching. :0)

I still stitch!

lol, I certainly haven't been posting much lately. With spring here I've been working outside alot and not getting nearly as much stitching done as I would like to. But here are two of my current wip's that I'm working on.

Uncle Sam
horses 3

The first one is a Precious Moment pattern called Uncle Sam, I'm stitching it on 18 count aida. The second one is an artecy.com pattern called Horses 3, I'm stitching this one 1x1 on 25 count lugana.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's day this weekend~ :0)

Rose Dream

I've finally gotten back to my stitching after a small break. This is what I've been working on, it's Rose Dream qs from HAED. I'm stitching it 1x1 on 25 count fabric. I don't know exactly when I started this one, it has 6 pages and on the third page it says that I started it(the page) in August of 2008.

started something new

Well, I couldn't settle down with the sunflowers, they are pretty but just didn't "feel it" lol. So I decided that since I've finished 2 projects this year so far, I could give myself permission to start a new project. I picked Artecy.com's Horses 3, another one for Jessie. Girl loves her horses and this one is only 8 pages. Pretty small for an artecy pattern. And I'm doing it 1x1 on 25 count lugana so it will be pretty small when finished. Easier to find frames for the smaller size patterns. I'm really liking it so far, using the smaller stitches makes the details pop more in these kinds of patterns. I'll post a pic soon. So that's what I've been doing stitchy-wise, thought I'd better post something stitching related since this is supposed to be my stitching blog, and not all nascar, all the time! lol, hugs~

mixed feelings about end of race

On one hand, Dale Jr did make a great comeback, on the other hand, Carl Edwards has proven to be such a jerk that it was sad. I really like Brad Keselowski, and what Carl did to him at the end was dangerous and so uncalled for. Makes me sad, because Carl was one of the guys that I would cheer for sometimes. Not anymore.

and what I'm working on next

This is Simply Sunflowers by Paula Vaughan. I started this one last summer, it's on 28 count evenweave which is one of my fave fabrics to stitch on so it should go fairly quickly. I think this is an appropriate project for right now since I have spring fever really bad, this should help. Or it will make it worse, lol

Fantasy Ride finished!!

Here it is all finished! Hooray, one wip down, many more to go lol! ;0)

Las Vegas

And the robot wins again-:(( sigh, congrats to Jimmie Johnson, you gotta hand it to him and his team, they've got this racing thing figured out. Junior did ok, actually moved up one spot in points. Now on to Atlanta, he always does really well there~hugs

qualifying at Las Vegas

So close to getting the pole for Vegas, but 4th is good too so yay Junior! Can't wait for the race on Sunday, it should be a good one~

In case you couldn't tell I haven't been doing too much stitching lately. Just can't seem to settle down for long periods of time. I'm blaming this on spring fever/cabin fever. Spring can't get here fast enough for me~ :0)

Monday, February 22, 2010

Fontana, California race

That's it, I've decided that Jimmie Johnson is a robot! Congrats to him and Chad for winning(again!)lol. Poor Junior, just can't catch a break. Hope next week is a better race for him-I live in hope!

Daytona 500

Whoohoo! Congrats to Jamie McMurry for winning the Daytona 500, and man oh man, how about that Dale Jr?!! He made that last lap so exciting, best lap of the whole race! My daughter and I were screaming at the tv, it was awesome even if he didn't win. The nascar season is off to a great start this year!

some of my wips

This is Quaker Patchwork, I'm still loving this design so much. I'm using my pretty silks to stitch this one on 18 count aida. I figure I'm close to halfway done with it~

And this is HAED'S Dark Cherry from last year's freebie sal. As you can see I didn't do too well with it, lol I finally finished page 2 and got a small start on page 3. I'm not participating in the freebie sal this year, I've too many projects needing to get finished. I had to put the carousel horse up for awhile, the dreaded frog came to visit and I have to frog quite a few stitches out in that one, sigh~

Blooming afghan

My latest afghan, this one is called Blooming Afghan. I used I Love This Yarn from hobby lobby. I really like this pattern, it was fairly easy to do and the yarn is soo soft!

burden 2010

This weekend is the themed sal for heaven and earth designs message board, the theme is background so I'd thought I'd drag this fellow out and put some stitches in. I only started this in October of 2006!! Hopefully I'll get if finished in my lifetime! lol, ;0)

spring fever

So I haven't been doing too much stitching lately. It's finally warmed up a little bit, not feeling so much like we're living in the arctic with below freezing temps so I've been working out in the yard. I'm moving my garden space so it's a big job! The bermuda grass took over where the garden is now so I'm admitting defeat and moving on, lol. I have spring fever big-time, can't wait for all the seed catalogues to arrive so I can start wishing and planning!
I have been working on a new afghan so hopefully will have a pic to share soon~

fantasy ride

Here is my next wip-this one is called fantasy ride. I started this one sometime last year so it's not been a wip/ufo for long, lol. I hope to get this one finished soon, it's for my daughter's bedroom. She's really into horses and unicorns right now so this will be perfect for her room~

chat noir finished!

All done! my sister-n-law will be pleased to get him home~

Getting closer to a finish, all I have left is the black stitches on the kitty~

the dreaded wip's

lol, I did an inventory yesterday of all my wip's, there are 18 of them! Not too bad I guess if you take into consideration that 8 of them are heaven and earth designs, even their smallest patterns are rather large. So I hope to get some of them finished this year, but I'm not going to put any deadlines for getting them done, only "hopefully this year". How's that for vague?! Since I don't do new years resolutions-I just set myself up for failure with those-that is as close as I will get to a new years resolution.
It's still cold here, it's the afternoon and the temps are barely above freezing right now. We still have snow and ice all over the place, at least the road is drivable now, even if it's all mushy and muddy~
Well, I'm off to get some housework done, then sit down to some stitching and watch Scooby Doo, ha
