I'm cruising now!

I got highspeed internet for Christmas! OMG!! I've been having a blast visiting all the sites people talk about that I just couldn't load with the dialup, it is soo much fun!
And hubby bought me a jr fanclub membership today too! Isn't he sweet? I'm all set for the 2009 racing season now! ;0)

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope everyone is having safe and happy holidays so far!

Here is an updated pic of puppies! They are so cute, and starting to eat dog chow. I noticed the other day that they were trying to eat Mom's food(she wasn't having any of that!) so I got them some puppy chow yesterday at walmart. I softened it with milk and they LOVED it! Soon it will be time for them to have new homes~

Can you believe that we had a thunderstorm last night? lol Crazy weather and it's not just here in Oklahoma either, it seems to be everywhere. I'm just so glad that we don't have all the snow and ice everyone else is getting dumped on them~

So far I'm sticking with the stitchy plan, I actually weeded out one project. I decided that I couldn't stand the colors of Vermillion's Christmas cat ornaments, they are really bright and I've been having too many irritating feelings towards finishing them so I just got rid of it. I'm sure that I can find someone who wants the chart who will actually stitch and enjoy them cuz I'm sure not lol Too many other things to stitch that I like~

The list

I finally decided to get organized and ready for next year's stitching. I've got a dresser drawer that I've been storing all my projects in and this afternoon I went through and counted them. 22. That's how many I've got going. 22. That's alot! So I've made a list and am determined to finish at least half of them next year without starting anything new with the exception of the yearly SAL challenge for the HAED bb. It's included in the list even though it won't be started until the new year. When did I get so carried away with the starting and not finishing of projects? When I started getting online and visiting all the lovely forums and online stores with all the must-have it, must-start it now patterns and ideas! Yes, I'm blaming the internet for my serial-starter ways, I have contracted startitis and it seems there is no cure for it. lol
I'm thinking of setting up some sort of reward system to keep me motivated. Maybe allow myself stash-enhancement when I reach certain goals on certain pieces etc. Haven't completely thought that idea out yet. I will definitely post lots of pics and updates to share~

getting ready for Christmas

It's about that time! I got to go do some Christmas shopping today, it's a lot more fun to shop when you're not so worried about the bills getting paid too. I think this is the first year in a long, long time that we've been able to do alot more for Christmas than just enough to get by. I spent my afternoon wrapping gifts and putting them under the tree, it's just a miniature one as I don't have alot of room in the living room so had to downsize! lol

I plan to enjoy as much of this weekend as possible since it is supposed to get cold and icy starting Monday afternoon. I keep reminding myself that this time last year we were under ice and without power. So it's not so bad, I'll just keep repeating that to myself over and over lol. I hate winter, I really do.

Well, I'm off to try to get some idea of what my stitchy plans for next year will be. I'm thinking I need to finish some projects and not start new ones for awhile. We'll see how that will go over with my stitchy personality, she doesn't like that idea one little bit, no sirree. ;)

Teresa Wentzler, the castle

Here is my latest new start, Teresa Wentzler's the Castle. I'm stitching this one on 28 count white monaco. So far I'm really enjoying it even though almost all of the colors are blended. I'm wondering how long it would take to stitch all of her dragon designs?! I do love a challenge, lol!

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving! We had a good time, drove to my mother's on Thanksgiving day and had another dinner with the inlaws on Friday. Everyone behaved themselves, which is surprising at the inlaws lol!

Say hello to Puppy and her babies! She had 6 puppies on the morning of the 29th, she's tucked inside a sleeping bag at the moment, nice and toasty warm~

It's turned cold, only going to be about 40 degrees today. At least it isn't snowing or sleeting. I haven't forgotten last years icestorm. Since the leaves have all fallen off the trees you can see all the damage still left from last year, I guess it will take a few years for the trees to come back from all that. I'm ready for spring again.

I've started my first large Teresa Wentzler pattern, the castle is the name of it. It's a really cool dragon wrapped around a castle. Most every symbol is a blended color so it's slow going but I'm really enjoying it. Haven't stitched enough for a picture yet but soon~

burden update

Here is Burden with another page finished! It's the short page on the right side at the bottom. I'm going to follow down to the end of the pattern on that side, then go sideways to finish it up. There are only 1 & 1/2 pages left to go until the bottom-whoohoo! lol

My Big Toe/Quaker Seasons wip

This is my newest start, Quaker Seasons by My Big Toe. I'm stitching this one 1x1 on 22 count hardanger with Vikki Clayton silks. I'm using the premiums from d-bags that I've gotten with several orders over the summer so the colors aren't going to match exactly with what the pattern calls for. I'm still working on Burden as well, I've gotten 8 of 25 pages complete on him.

Completely unrelated to stitching-today is November 4th! I voted, did you?! hugs Christine

Thursday wip's

Here is an update on Burden, by Heaven and Earth designs. After about 4 months of being put away I've finally gotten the desire to stitch on this one some more, his eye is starting to peek out at me, finally some details are emerging and he is getting more interesting to stitch on! I started this one in October of 2006! lol I'm hoping to finish him by the end of next year~
1x1 on 28 count evenweave

This little cutie is an artecy pattern from the artwork of Maria Van Bruggen, it's a mini-stitch called daisy dream. I'm stitching her on 18 count aida, this is halfway done~

another Inga's crochet bag/h-bag

I've finished another h-bag, this one is done in cotton worsted yarn & I lined it with plain white fabric. I was going to put a zipper in it, but it's been a long while since I've done any major sewing so I decided to stick with the basics on this one. I had to sew the lining in by hand after I got it all ready to put in as my sewing machine wouldn't stitch throught the thickness of it all together. This is going in the mail this week to my mom, her birthday is at the end of the month~

southern all the way! lol

You Are 10% Yankee, 90% Dixie

You're completely Dixie all the way. You've possibly never even met a Yankee!

Happy Saturday

Howdy! It's been awhile since I updated here. Been busy I guess, not anything dramatic just life in general. You know how everyday things can keep you going at full speed! lol

I've been busy stitching (of course)! I received my first rr to stitch on for the artecy rr we've started on the forum. I'm excited about it, this is the first time I've done an rr. If it goes well, I'll definitely do more of them. I like to stitch for other people, it's a good feeling when someone gets excited over something you've made for them.

As for my crocheting, I'm working on another round ripple afghan-this one is called Aztec Sun round ripple, I'm using black, green and yellow for the colors in it. I'm about halfway done with it. I've got lots of crochet projects planned, but I'm being very good and not starting them all at once! (it's hard though, truth be told the only reason I haven't started them all is lack of yarn lol!)

The weather here is starting to turn cooler, time to start getting ready for the winter weather. Dh says the almanac etc. says its supposed to be a cold and wet winter. Yuck. Have I mentioned that I hate cold weather? Anything below 70 degrees is bad in my opinion. Guess I'll just have to stay busy inside. My SIL brought me more books to read so I have lots to keep occupied with.

Here is my first round ripple finish! I just love these designs,
and plan on making many more~

Saturday, September 27, 2008

Tada! Here he is, all finished! Ready to join the pack of wolves
that I've got going on~lol, what shall I stitch on now?! I only
have about 9 other wip's going lol

Cry Wolf
(The first book in the Alpha and Omega series)
(2008)
A novel by
Patricia Briggs

Now Briggs begins an extraordinary new series set in Mercy Thompson's world - but with rules of its own.

INTRODUCING THE ALPHA AND OMEGA NOVELS...

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack.and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she'd learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member - and as his mate.
~~~~~~~
This was a great read, I didn't recognize the author at first but then realized that I've read her before, Hobb's Bargain was a book that my sister-n-law loaned me and I loved it as well. Patricia Brigg's stories are well written and I will be following this series as it unfolds~
my h-bag
Here is a crochet bag I finished up today. It's from a free pattern I found on Ravelry called Inga's crocheted bag or hakelbuten(sp?) I made mine with red heart worsted yarn, in light sage and blue. I really like it and am using it as a project bag. It's holding yarn for my next project, 6-pointed star afghan. It's an Annie's Attic pattern that is so pretty. I'm doing mine in pinks and browns, I'll try to post a pic when I get further along with it~
As for my x-stitching, I'm still working on artecy's wolf 2. I've only got 3 pages left to do and he will be finished! I find that I am able to stick with just that one wip since I've started crocheting again, it seems to keep the startitis in check, lol!
Ink Circles Triangles
I started Ink Circles Cirque des Triangles today. I'm using 36 count Edinburgh linen in a color called rue green-it's really more blue than green. I'm doing the outlines of the triangles in dmc #3787, I haven't decided on the colors for the designs inside the triangles yet. I really like working on this fabric so far, it's a little hard on the eyes though so I can't stitch for long periods of time on it, good thing I only have about a dozen other wip's to work on when my eyes need a break from the tiny holes! lol, Christine
Big Happy Dance for me today!
Yay!! I finished it just this afternoon, this is Labyrinth by Pelin Tezer. I stitched it 2x2 on 28 count evenweave with dmc variegated #4210. I really love it, I think it turned out well.
Now I'm working on another TW Needle Guardian, this one is for my SIL, she loves dragons and saw the one that I made for my mom & really liked it. I'm hoping to have it done in time for her birthday(in September lol) We'll see, I'm getting better at sticking with and finishing things. I'd like to say my serial starter days are behind me, but who am I kidding?! hugs, Christine
Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks #1)
I’m Jaz Parks. My boss is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his vampire wife, Liliana. But that’s ancient history. For the moment Vayl works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best—assassination. And I help. You could say I’m an Assistant Assassin. But then I’d have to kick your ass.Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he’s meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing’s ever as easy as it seems?
~~~~~~
Ok, something you probably don't know about me is that I love vampire/werewolf stories. Some of my favorite authors are Laurell K. Hamilton, Carrie Vaughan, Kim Harrison, and I just discovered Jennifer Rardin. So far I am loving Once Bitten Twice Shy, and can't wait to get back to Barnes and Noble to get the next 2 installments. I like my heroines to kick butt, which is why I love LKH's Anita Blake series so much, however, her books should come with a disclaimer-if you don't like sexual content, her stuff is not for you! and Carrie Vaughan's werewolf named Kitty(yep, a werewolf named Kitty, I find it extremely hilarious!) is great as well. Kim Harrison's stories are about a witch, but they are good reading as well, got a few vampires & werewolves in them too. Now you know my secret, keep in mind though, I know this stuff isn't real, it's just fiction and fun to read~winks, Christine

Today I went to hobby lobby-or "mecca" as my dh jokingly put it! lol I got some floss(of course)and got some yarn for my next crochet project. Did you know that hobby lobby has their own brand of yarn now? I did not, and got some, and I love it! It's really soft and they have lots of pretty colors too. I haven't stitched with it yet, I'm making myself behave and finish the afghan that I'm working on first as it's a Christmas gift for my grandmother. Hopefully I can keep from falling into the trap of having to many crochet wip's like I do the xstitch ones~

artecy's wolf 2

Here is an update on wolf2 from artecy. This is 6 pgs done, and almost a 7th~

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Here is an afghan I finished this weekend for the munchkin, it's a mile-a-minute pattern. I used Red Heart worsted weight yarn in ecru and sunshine print, hugs, Christine

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Well, it's been awhile since I updated here, not much going on lately. With the weather being so hot you would think that I'd be getting alot of stitching done, but not really. lol, I stitched some small patterns that will be Christmas ornaments. And I finished an afghan, all I have to do is tie up the ends and then I will take a pic for you. It's been a really long time since I finished any crochet, I've really missed crocheting and am picking it back up again. I used to buy yarn like I do threads for xstitch, meaning I would buy it just because I wanted it & not really having a project in mind for it!

I did get a new place ready for my garden for next year. I'm moving the veggie garden and am letting the raised beds in the front yard just be for flowers next year. There is too much grass to dig out and I don't have the energy to mess with it anymore. I never get ahead of it lol! Now, to get my hubby to keep his promise of a fence for the new one, he never did fence the old one :(0 ~

School starts next Thursday, my munchkin will be starting the 2nd grade~hubby, naturally, is complaining about all the school supplies. They do ask for alot, but I'm ok with sending clorox wipes and tissues-kids share germs like candy lol! hugs, Christine

Sunday, August 3, 2008

Here is L&L's fairy dreams-I can't for the life of me remember exactly when I started her, I know it's been at least 2 yrs. Maybe even 3, as I did her face 1x1 and it was one of the first times I tried over one stitching. She's being worked on pink 28 count monaco. All I have left to do is the metallics and beads. I've been working faithfully on my wolves all week, this weekend I felt a little burned out and went digging through my stash and found my pretty fairy and decided to give her some love, hopefully I can finish her this year~

It's been hot, hot, hot here in the sooner state-106 degrees today YIKES! I stayed inside most of the day, only ventured out to water the dogs and my garden lol. It's supposed to be hot for the next few days then back down into the 90's-lol, imagine thinking temps dropping down to the 90's as a "cool front"!

the pack/janlynn

Here is The Pack, by Janlynn. I started this one 12/01/06 and I figure it's about time I got serious about finishing it up as there are so many other wolves I want to stitch. I'm feeling a little out of control with the number if wip's I have (about a dozen or so) Most of them are haed's though and I think they should be counted as "lifer's", not wip's lol!

The weather here in Oklahoma has turned hot, almost 100 degrees the last few days. I feel grateful that it waited until mid-July to get so hot-I remember a few years back when the 100 degree temps started arriving in May~

Not much else is going on in my little world right at the moment. This weekend dh and his dad are going to finally finish fixing the bathroom floor. Never seen such procrastination in my life, this has been an ongoing project for about 2 months now. Who knew a tiny little bathroom floor could cause so much trouble, insert eyeroll here. I'm a little out of patience with the whole situation, to tell you the truth~oh well, that's life huh

TW's Needle Guardian

Here is Teresa Wentzler's Needle Guardian all finished! I stitched this for my mom and finally got brave enough to do the finishing work on it a few weeks ago. I used the recommended silks, beads etc and used a jewelery toggle clasp for the fastener. I'm really proud of myself for actually doing the finishing work on this one, it's not perfect but I'll get better with practice, I'm stitching another one for my sis-n-law for Christmas, lol! hugs Christine

Happy birthday to me!

Today is my birthday! Look what I got-chocolate cake
with chocolate/fudge icing, yummy!!
and look, my husband still thinks I'm 29! wink,wink(I'm 35)

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Hi all! I started something new for the cc bb stitchathon after all lol! I started a freebie from Passione Ricamo called blue guardian angel. I've done as much on it as I can, had to order some metallic threads from 123 stitch to finish her with. Now I'm working on an artecy sci-fi bookmark for my hubby, I'm about halfway done with it. I'ts been a pretty easy stitch, I should have it done by this weekend, hopefully he won't lose this one like he did the last one I made for him~he says it's in a book-somewhere. Since he has alot of books, finding it will be hard lol! oh well, I love him and I love to stitch so it's all good huh! hugs, Christine

dragon dreams/Summer's magic

Here is Dragon Dreams Summer's Magic all finished!
I started this on 6/28 and finished on 7/13.
It's stitched on 28 count tea colored monaco.
Amazing what a girl can accomplish when she can't
spend hours on the internet, lol!

starting over

Hello! I've been offline for about a month now due to my computer completely crashing. So now I'm starting over with alot of stuff, so I figured why not start over with the blog too, lol!
So here I am, this week is the July stitchathon on the Cross Stitch Crazy bb, not real sure what I'll be stitching on. Maybe wolf 2, or I might just start something new. Bad Christine lol!
I'll try to get some pics up of what I'll be working on soon~hugs Christine
