only 6 more days to Christmas

Howdy all! I haven't been doing much here with the blog lately, I blame Facebook. I've discovered Farmville over there and have been playing it alot! My stitching still calls me back to reality from time to time, lol!
I don't think I will be gettin chat noir done before Christmas, especially since that is only 6 days away now. Oh well, it will get done, probably sooner rather than later since it's for someone else. I'm thinking of my new year's stitching resolutions-I'm toying with the idea of no new starts until I get some long-time wip's finished. I have a dresser drawer full of unfinished projects and it's getting to be overwhelming. So I figure it's time to put some structure back into my stitching **gasp** the startitis in me hates that idea big-time!!
I officially finished up my Christmas shopping today, I'm so proud of myself! I'm usually one of those people at walmart the day before trying desperatly to find gifts before it's too late, not this year!
I will be making a list of projects that I think I can finish next year, it's along list~;0)

chat noir update

Here is some progress on chat noir, as you can see I'm procrastinating on stitching all the black on the kitty! Soon that will be the only color left so I will have no choice but to stitch it, lol I'm hoping to get this finished before the end of the year, fingers crossed~

my Quaker Patchwork wip

I've been working on a new start this past week, I started the Quaker Patchwork, it is a free sal from the Wiehenburg yahoo group. It's so pretty, I couldn't wait to get started so I just jumped in, lol. I'm using 18 count aida and Vikki Clayton hdf, most of the colors are not labeled and I'm picking my own as I go along. A patchwork to me must be full of color, every single color you can think of!

Here is the link to the group if you want to go check it out! I love the samplers she has, they are all soo pretty!

my Colorado Ripple aghan

Here is my Colorado Ripple afghan all finished! It's white and dark sage green, not black like it looks in the pic, lol. Now I need to get back to work on a round ripple I started in camo colors, I'd like to finish it in time to give to my brother for Christmas~hugs

My orts!

As promised, here are my orts. I was keeping them in an old goldfish bowl, but recently got this old jar in a bunch of my mother-n-laws sewing stuff my father-n-law brought to me. It was holding buttons but I decided it would be much nicer with all my pretty threads in it. It doesn't have a lid and I normally keep it right next to me on the kitchen table where I do most of my stitching these days. I like the idea that something I always thought of as trash can be considered artsy!

my granny square afghan

Here is my small granny square afghan finish, it's going to be a gift to one of my sister-n-laws' for Christmas. I made it with leftover yarn from other projects, mostly red heart and some I Love This Yarn from hobby lobby. It was really easy and fun to do, especially picking out the colors. I could not help but try to match them up in color families. It's the x-stitcher in me, must have some semblance of pattern/and or order in my projects! It's not very big, more of a lapghan but just the right size for a person and a kitty to snuggle up in!

dark cherry update

Here she is, almost 2 pages down. lol, 4 to go. I've decided not to join next years freebie sal on the haed bb, I'm so far behind on this one. And I need to get some ink for hubby's printer-somebody used it all (not me, no way, nuh uh, wasn't me!) so I can print the next 4 pages out or I'll never finish! Sorry the pic is so dark. It is dreary and cold here today, I guess the beautiful Indian summer we were having is over. Oh well, knew it was coming, one can't stop the season's from doing their thing~;0)

Happy Friday!

Yayy! It's Friday and hubby has the weekend off, double yayy!! He's the man, let me tell you, my computer went kablooy last week. It was baaaad. Apparantly my antivirus software was, well, nowhere to be found. lol, how that happened I just don't know. Anyways, he completely redid my computer and, icing on the cake, got us Cricket wireless internet! Wahoo! No more crawling along with dial-up! I can see all the lovely pics on everyone's blogs without refreshing the pages over and over, it's awesome! And boy do all you stitcher's have some of the most beautiful finishing techniques. I am inspired to get busy and try out new and interesting ways to finish things off. Must go shopping! lol I need fabric, and trim, and buttons and ribbons and....the list goes on! lol
Well I'm off to blog-hop, later! ;0)

update on chat noir

~ as of yesterday, hugs~

all better now!

Check out the new mailbox, isn't my hubby awesome?!
He spray painted it, made the templates for the stars, and
his dad made the vinyl letters for us, we call it our
Spirit of '76 mailbox~hugs

Thursday, October 29, 2009

All right, who dunnit?! lol

LOL!! I can't help but laugh about this! It's been pouring down rain since about 6:30 this morning, it was still dark and stormy at 7:30 when I took the munchkin up the driveway to wait for the bus in the truck, it was still lightening and thundering like crazy so it was the best way. I didn't see it if it was already squished then, I found it around noon when I went to check for the mail, surprise! There was no mail inside, I checked lol. Good thing I'm not waiting on any stash! Oh well, I've been wanting a new box anyways, one that doesn't leak and get my mail all damp.
Of course my roof is leaking as well, all the plastic that we so carefully put up for a quick fix, well it blew off a few days ago. Actually it blew halfway off and is flapping around the side of the house driving me crazy at night. Want to take bets on how long it takes my dear sweet hubby to "get around to fixing it"? Anybody familiar with that phrase?! lol

pretty roses

These roses are next to my front porch, they smell so good!!

Monday, October 26, 2009

I finished the afghan!

Here it is all finished! It's just at 6 feet long, perfect size for hubby. Now, hopefully it fits in my washer when it needs washing and drying, lol!

chat noir by artecy

Here is chat noir by artecy cross stitch. I'm finishing this one for my SIL who just doesn't have time to stitch much anymore. She really likes this one and it has been a UFO for a long, long time. It's being stitched on 22 count hardanger so it is going pretty slowly. But I like the pattern and since it is for someone else I will probably be able to stick with it to the finish. If it was for myself no telling how long it would hold my attention, I find that if I'm stitching for other people I'm able to keep working on a project until it is finished, if it's for me, not so much, lol!

pics of the afghans~

Here is my round ripple all finished, this one is the free pattern by Aggie May, I like this pattern alot but had a lot of trouble keeping the gauge correct so it wouldn't poof up in the middle. It poofs, just a tiny bit, lol! I like it though. This one and several other afghans I've made over the past year are going to go to charity. I haven't decided where yet, need to do some checking into that to see what is available locally. My niece works in a nursing home, maybe I will see if I can bring them up there for the residents. I'm sure they will be appreciated.
And here is my hubby's blanket I'm working on. I added some navy blue at the top and am going to go in a pattern with the navy blue, teal, and grey in big stripes with the teal being the dominant color. This is almost halfway done, since he is very tall-6'4"-it needs to be really long! So that's about all I'm doing at the moment. I have an artecy cross stitch pattern that I'm working on, it's called Chat Noir and is a project my SIL started but doesn't have time to finish since she is working fulltime now. So I'm gonna finish it up for her. I find that if I'm stitching something for someone else, I can stick with it until I'm done. If I'm stitching for me, it's just whatever catches my interest in the moment, lol. I enjoy my hobbies~hugs

Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was ok, dh worked all weekend so it was just me and the munchkin. Sort of a quiet and blah kind of weekend. It was chilly and cloudy most of the time. Today it is drizzly and cold. For me anyways, anything under 75 degrees is cold, lol. Watched alot of tv, cartoons and nascar. Gotta love that pink panther! That is my daughter's favorite cartoon for now. She wants me to crochet her a pink panther afghan. It's on the list, lol!

I watched both the nationwide and sprint cup nascar races. I've decided that I really like Joey Lagano, for such a young man he certainly is doing well so far in his career. I really enjoyed seeing Dale Jr run up front for most of the sprint cup race, I almost cried when he got wrecked, again by nothing of his own doing. He's doing so much better, it's obvious to me that he and Lance Mcgrew are working well together and it would be nice if people would quit WRECKING MY FAVORITE DRIVER!! hmphfff

Stitching wise, I haven't done much cross stitching the past few days. I have been crocheting though and I finished up a round ripple that I've had going for awhile and got quite alot done on dh's afghan. I can't take pics at the moment as my camera needs new batteries and the ones I've got just won't work in it. I don't know why, they are brand new, I opened the package myself. Technology confounds me alot of the time, lol So hopefully when payday rolls around I will remember to get more new batteries and try to get some pics to show, hope ya'll have a great week, hugs

sign sampler is finished!

Here is the sign sampler all finished!
and a pic of my square ripple afghan wip for hubby, need more yarn! lol

Saturday, October 3, 2009

I'm sooo close to a finish!

lol, I'm so close to finishing my sign lanuage sampler. I ran out of floss with just 1 & 1/2 letters to go, ordered the floss, got it, stitched it, then ran out of beads halfway around the border! I had to just shake my head and laugh at myself. So I ordered the beads from 123stitch (my favorite online source for everything stitchy!) Hopefully they will be here today or Monday so I will have a finished pic to share soon. In the meantime I've started my Christmas stitching. I'm stitching some really cute cows for my SIL, her kitchen is done in cows. I had cows for awhile, but I'm gravitating back towards sunflowers. I love sunflowers, so bright and cheerful. I'm working on a afghan for hubby, it's just a regular ripple in black/grey/teal blue, hugs

the absentee blogger, that's me

Hi! I haven't been in a 'blogging' mood lately, lol. I get in these moods every now and then when I just get real quiet and don't have much to say. I don't mean to ignore anybody, it just happens.
I haven't gotten much done on my stitching lately either, no new finishes to show yet. I have a drawer full of wip's and ufo's begging for my attention but I just don't really have any desire to stitch on them at the moment. So I'm crocheting instead as I can't not do nothing, you know what I mean? Like when I sit down to watch tv, I have to have something in my hands to keep busy with. It's really rare when a movie captures my attention enough for me to just sit and watch it. Transformers was the last movie I watched and was totally into it. My husband likes to tease me when I'm sitting on the couch watching tv and reading a book! lol, multi-tasking at it's finest! I will try to be better about updating here, hugs

some updates

Here is my progress on the sign sampler, after finishing the first row, I've discovered I am 3 rows off on all but the bottom row :0( I've decided to skip to the bottom two rows to see what it will look like when I get those signs stitched. If it doesn't look wrong I will leave it alone~grrr

This is Reign by My Big Toe. I'm stitching it 2x2 on 28 count with Vikki Clayton silks. I've changed the colors quite a bit, it calls for Crescent colors old red paint/dmc 902 and old purple paint/dmc 3740. I didn't like those colors, they seem drab to me. I wanted brighter colors~

and last, but certainly not least, here is my progress on Dark Cherry for the haed bb sal. I've almost completed the first page. Got the last page in the last sal weekend, lol I'd say I'm a little behind! She's so pretty, I love stitching on her ;0)

corner-to-corner crochet throw finished

Here is my latest afghan finish, it's a free pattern by red heart called Corner-to-corner crochet throw. I started it as a scrap afghan, naturally had to buy more yarn to finish it, lol! I really like this pattern, it was very easy to do. My next project will be a kit I ordered from Herrschner's for my b-day, can't wait for it to get here! ;)

My teeny, tiny biscornu!

Here is the smallest biscornu I've ever attempted! It's 19 stitches wide by 19 stitches long and that's including the backstitching to sew it with lol! It's on 18 count aida with hdf, I don't know the name of the color. It was from a d-bag~

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July! We stayed home and did fireworks with family, it was alot of fun. All the neighbors around did them for like 3 days/nights in a row, they put on some great shows!

Watched the race last night, it was pretty boring actually until the end. I sort of lost interest when Junior got wrecked. Congrats to Tony Stewart for the win, I'm glad that all the drivers made it out safely-even peanuthead Kyle. Who I hoped learned a lesson. Which I doubt he did, but oh well~

American Sign Language Sampler

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't really been posting much lately. It's been really hot and I've been really cranky lol. So I've just been quiet, no need to share the misery!

Here is what I'm working on at the moment, it's the American Sign Language Sampler by Jemini Designs. I started this probably about 2 yrs ago for my daughter. She has an interest in sign language so when I found this pattern I had to stitch it for her. I'm about halfway there with it, it calls for beads in the leaves of the border. I'm thinking of substituting them for a really pretty variegated silk floss. It's coming along pretty quickly so hopefully I will have it finished up soon~

I made a doily! lol

Here is my first blocking board I made this afternoon! Not bad for a first attempt at making my own. I had to use a small scrap of plywood that I had on hand that didn't need to be cut down to size so it's a little thin. I used my husbands stapler, I really need to invest in my own stapler I found out. His is I guess what you'd call industrial size! The staples went all the way through all the layers and still had the ends of the staples sticking out. I just pounded them flat with a hammer and all is well, lol. Not showing you the back as it is kind of messy, besides I'm not using the back so who needs to see it huh?! lol The doily is called Daisy in the sun and is from the July 2009 issue of Crochet! that I got in the mail this morning. It was supereasy to make and really fun too. I'll take a better picture of it once it's dry and off the board.

As for my latest xstitch finish, Yesteryear, I've decided to turn it into a bellpull. I need to find just the right fabric for it, and order some hardware too. I found some at 123 stitch that I like and it is reasonably priced as well so hopefully I can get that one finish-finished soon! lol, technical term that, finish-finished! ;)

LHN Yesteryears wip

This is what I'm working on now, it's called Yesteryear and it's by Little House Needlework. I'm stitching it on 18 count aida with dmc threads. I actually started this sometime last year and am really wanting to get it finished soon. I'm trying not to start new projects until I get some of these wip's finished up. Hopefully the startitus will stay away!

la petite brodeuse

Here is a freebie I just finished from broderie.net, it's called la petite brodeuse. I used dmc #334 and 28 count evenweave. This is a project I worked on between RR's for the last few weeks. Since she's all one color she was a very easy stitch and so pretty and sweet!

When it rains, it pours

It's been raining here for almost non-stop for about a week now. We needed the rain but I'm longing for some sunshine. It's been a rough few days, first the transmission in my car went. Now in just the last 2 days we lost 4 puppies to some sort of sickness. The 2 that are left I've been letting just run loose in the yard. They stay close to the house and don't bother the neighbors thankfully, as I'm not putting any more animals of any kind in our dogpen until we figure out what they got into(or what got into them) Not much else I can do at this point.
I'm still stitching on RR's so nothing to show stitchy-wise.
Oh, yeah. Happy birthday Kyle Bush and congrats for winning on your special day.
Not a very cheerful post this time, but that's life eh? It will be better soon, I don't stay down for long, hugs

Talledaga/Nascar

Wow! What a race that was! Big congrats to Brad Kaselowski for his first cup win, and awesome Dale jr, got 2nd! Moved up in the points too! I was soo thankful to see Carl Edwards get out of his car, and Ryan Newman too. That was a cool thing Carl did, running across the finish line, lol. and his interview was very classy, I agree with all he said. Nascar created the stituation that caused that wreck and Brad didn't do anything wrong at all. Me and hubby were cheering all out for Carl when he got out and ran across the finish line!

Speaking of cars, the transmission in ours went kablooey~big sigh, we got our second vehicle up and running well enough for now. We're hoping to trade it in this weekend for a truck, we live in the country and we really need one. We don't really want a car payment, but what can we do? We live almost 35-40 miles from hubby's job and moving is out of the question. Ah well, the Lord will provide!

I'm back to working on a RR this week so no new xstitch pics for awhile. I'm working on a freebie from broderie.net, it's a really cute one color pattern of a little girl doing xstitch. I'm doing mine on 28 count evenweave with dmc #332, I'll post a pic when it's finished~

update on Burden/haed

Here is Burden, I've finally almost reached the halfway mark! I've finished 12 of 25 pages, and I only started him 3 years ago lol!! I'm stitching him 1x1 on 28 count monaco which I will not be doing again anytime soon(1x1 on 28 count that is!) It's very tedious but worth the effort I think. I had hoped to get him finished by the end of this year but don't think that will be happening unless I buckle down and get hard at work on him. And I know that won't be happening, I'm like a butterfly flitting around from project to project, whatever makes me happy in the moment! Oh well, it's my hobby, I'll do it like I want to! ;0)

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

It's Wednesday~

Well, I started Castles in the Air, but decided I didn't like the fabric I had so I'm going to restart at a later date. I'll just collect the parts while I shop around for the "perfect fabbie" lol! Oh well, if I'm going to commit to a 2 year sal I better get everything just right or I won't be able to stay with it. So instead I started Mates, a really beautiful pattern of 2 wolves by Cross My Heart. I got the pattern at patternsonline several years ago and just haven't gotten around to doing it. I'm stitching it on 18 count aida, which seems to be my fabric of choice for patterns like that, the ones that cover the whole fabric like a painting. I'm enjoying it so far~
I had to redo my blog template as the Pyzam one messed up, then the header got stuck on there somehow and it was just yucky. So back to the plain blogger one which I shall stick with for now. Hope everyone has a great day today, it's warm here in OK-which reminds me OMG!! I was walking in my yard yesterday picking up stitcks, getting ready to mow it for the first time this weekend, when I almost stepped on a really BIG, black snake! AAAAAAGGHHHHH!! I hate snakes. I have a live and let live policy which goes something like this-you live if you stay the he*&% away from me! lol I ran back to the house to get my camera for a pic, but he was gone when I got back, so that's good. But now I'm seeing snakes everywhere lol~

Dark Cherry/haed bb sal update

Here she is so far! I love this one, she's so pretty and so pink! I'm stitching her 1x1 on 25 count lugana, in a color called Lt. Rose. It's very close to the dmc #818 or 819 in color. I've already put her away, now I'm starting Papillon's new mystery sal for 2009 called Castles in the Air. It has lots and lots of specialty stitches in it & is going to last for 24 months. I'm just barely getting started and haven't even picked out all of the colors for it yet. I'm sort of doing it as I go along, picking what looks good as I get to it. I am using dmc as it is overwhelming to try to pick out hdf for this one(to me anyways lol) too many beautiful color choices with hdf. And I'm on a bit of a budget right now too so good old dmc it is! I'll post pics as I complete each month's installment, probably not in the month it came out as I'm already 2 months behind!!

I missed the race this weekend

Lol, I completely missed the race on Saturday, didn't even think of it. Oh well, sounds like I didn't miss much. Congrats to Mark Martin for winning, that's pretty cool. Poor Jr, seems like he had a bad day. :(0

I've been busy stitching on a couple of RR's this past few weeks. I've finished those and will be mailing them out this week sometime. I can't show them to you as we are all waiting to see the finished projects when we get them back. Now I'm stitching on my Dark Cherry for haed's freebie sal. I missed the last 2 sal's on the bb, so I'm making up for lost time. When it gets lighter I'll take a pic for you to see, hugs Christine

rose bunny all finished for Easter

Here is rose bunny from artecy.com, all finished and ready for Easter! Let me tell you though, I will never use a prefinished tote bag for this kind of project again. Sewing it on was difficult with my sewing machine, I shoulda just did it by hand lol. Oh well, next time I will make the finished piece itself into a tote, lesson learned!

Monday, April 6, 2009

nascar/Texas

Yayy! Jeff Gordon finally won at Texas! And Jimmy Johnson did well too, what a comeback from the struggles he had all day. That's why he's a repeat champion. And good job to Dale jr and crew, what a great day he would've had if *&%&* hadn't RUN into him on the restart. Seriously, it's called RACING, not bumper cars. With him being 2 laps down I thought it was just uncalled for.
Jeff looked real good in his cowboy hat, eh?! ;0)

Shocking Pink round ripple afghan finish

Here is my latest round ripple afghan finish-pink huh!! It's made with Red Heart worsted in black, candy print, and shocking pink. Appropriate name for this one-Shocking Pink! My daughter loves it, she doesn't know it but she will be getting it for Christmas. She thinks it's for one of her cousins, which it was when I started it, but since she's been begging me to give it to her, well I can't say no but it will be a surprise on Christmas~ ;0)

Monday, March 30, 2009

Martinsville/Nascar

Yayy!! I really enjoyed watching the race this time! Congrats to Jimmy Johnson for winning, loved how he moved Denny Hamlin and took over the lead, it was very exciting towards the end. Jimmy got cheers from me that are usually reserved for Dale jr, lol. And it was great seeing Jeff Gordon lead so many laps, he had a great day too. And of course Dale jr did pretty great as well, 9th place finish and moved up to 16th in points! Now on to Texas, loove Texas! ;0)

Saturday, March 28, 2009

It's supposed to be spring now, right?

It's snowing here today. After raining all day yesterday, it is a mess! I'm thankful however, that the weatherman was wrong (at least here in central OK) This junk was supposed to start last night and it only just now started at about 1:00 this afternoon. I don't think any of it will actually stick around, it's been too warm lately and the ground isn't frozen anymore. We did need the rain though, it's been a very dry for a while now. I'm really thankful that I haven't done any gardening except for some elephant ears that I planted last week, they should be fine. Got watered in real good huh!! lol

Monday, March 23, 2009

Bristol/Nascar

Umm, will the real Bristol please stand up? Where was all the beating and banging, temper tantrums? I will not even grace you with my opinion yet again of Kyle Bush-insert eyeroll here. And Dale jr, 14th place is ok, but seriously seemed like you were stuck in quicksand, lol. Never really moved forward at all and thank God for the lucky dog! Anyhoo, moved up to 19th in points so that's good. Moving forward is a good thing. Even if the racing is BORING. smiles and hugs~

haed finish/wip

Here is an update on my Dark Cherry for haed's bb freebie sal. I got quite a bit done this time around, hopefully I can get at least one full page done before the 3rd page comes out!

and here is haed's pirate dragon freebie, I finished this cute fellow up a few nights ago. He's stitched on 18 count aida. Not sure what I'm going to do with him, either frame him or make a pillow~

Rose Bunny

Here is an Artecy.com pattern called Rose Bunny. I'm stitching this one for the munchkin for Easter. Originally I thought I'd make a pillow out of it but now I'm thinking of making a tote bag instead. I think it would be really cute with some Easter fabric, she could use it to hunt for eggs with in the Easter hunt, or stuff it with candy etc. I'm stitching it on a light mint green 18 count aida fabric, it's really shiny and kind of stiff. I think it's damask? Whatever that is-some fabric expert I am huh!
Typical Oklahoma weather, it was sleeting on Saturday morning, by the afternoon it was in the upper 60's and sunny, got alot of yard work done~I want to start my garden so bad I can't stand it but am waiting for that frost date to pass. April something or other, lol

Monday, March 9, 2009

nascar/Altlanta

Another fairly good finish for Dale jr-11th not so bad considering the race was a joke. I was once again bored. Bored, bored bored. At this rate I would not consider paying $$ to go see a race at one of the tracks. Dale jr is pretty much the only reason I stick with it on Sundays~

On a different subject, it's springtime here in the Sooner state. All my daffodils are blooming along with the bridal wreath bushes, the firebushes, and the plum & peach trees as well. They are kind of sparse though compared to before the icestorm. And it's been so dry as well. I've reclaimed another part of my yard, I'm hard at it getting branches etc. picked up and piled up. Not much else to do with it at the moment, certainly can't burn it lol. So I'll make compost out of it. That's a good thing, right?!

I've been stitching a little bit. I've slowed down somewhat as I need to get my eyes checked. It's getting hard to focus on the small print and I've been getting headaches. Doesn't help that I've had a cold/allergies all in one for the last week or so. Welcome springtime! lol

Saturday, March 7, 2009

my first stitched towel

This is a Stoney Creek pattern I got at Patternsonline.com called Folksy Chicken towel. I messed up and didn't get it centered properly so this is just a part of the whole design. It didn't print right somehow and ended up being off-center by about 5 rows on the actual design and I didn't notice until I had most of the chicken stitched. No way was I ripping it out and starting over so I just altered it to make it work~

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

snowman finish

This is a freebie from Midnight Stitching, stitched 2x2 on
28 count evenweave with VC silks. I'll finish it into a
Christmas ornament (one of these days!)

I was given an award!

Thanks so much to Carolyn for nominating me this on her blog, this is a first for me! Thanks so much to everyone who reads and comments here, it is greatly appreciated. Who knew there were so many other people out there like me who are crazy and passionate about their hobbies! I'll be passing this on as soon as I can~hugs, Christine

a small "finished finish" lol

Here is a small angel freebie I did awhile back, finished into a pinkeep. It's stitched with Vicki Clayton hdf on 28 count evenweave fabric. This is my second time making a pinkeep and I'm very pleased with this one. Remembered to take a pic of the back this time lol!
I've been stitching on HAED'S pirate dragon freebie, I'm almost finished with it. Naturally since I'm so close to finishing I keep running out of floss. Hopefully I'll have him finished and ready for his picture to be taken soon~hugs
